In its June 20 edition, the Daily Business Review published an article, ranking the 100 largest firms in Florida, and evaluating the overall health of the state's legal industry. Gordon & Rees was included in its list of national law firms which have recently opened Miami offices.
Citing an overall improving legal economy, the article stated, "The new arrivals showcase what is already known to many south Florida law firms – business is returning, the local economy is improving and the legal market is well on its way to digging out of one of its worst runs ever."
While other law firms have opened offices in South Florida with a focus on expanding their practices relative to Latin America, the article addressed Gordon & Rees's objective to establish a foothold in the southeast, quoting firm managing partner Dion Cominos. "The opening of the office was due to client demand, people wanting assistance from us in Florida. It's more driven by the south Florida economy."
Since opening in December 2009 with managing partner, Robert M. Mayer, the Florida office has been Gordon & Rees's fastest growing office. It now has a team of fourteen highly respected attorneys handling cases including, for example, complex commercial litigation, employment counseling and litigation, insurance defense and coverage disputes, intellectual property counseling and litigation, products liability claims, receiverships and bankruptcy claims, and toxic torts. The office is continuing to grow to meet client demand and has moved recently to new quarters at 200 South Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, FL 33133 to accommodate that anticipated growth.
