Gordon & Rees Elevates 16 to Partnership

Gordon & Rees has elevated William Blick, Brendan Bradley, Leslie Eason, Daniel A. Garcia, James Holder, Marc Holmquist, Marie Trimble Holvick, Heather Kelly, David Phillips, Ryan Polk, Laurie Rust, Alexander Saksen, Brandon Saxon, Tamara Seelman, and Kirstie Simmerman to partnership.

Blick is a Pittsburgh partner who concentrates his practice in the area of civil litigation with a particular emphasis in the area of professional liability. He has experience in several areas of litigation including commercial litigation, professional liability, premises liability and insurance coverage disputes. His experience includes cases involving breach of contract claims, declaratory judgments and professional liability defense involving claims against long-term care corporations.

Bradley, a partner in the San Francisco office, has experience in all aspects of construction litigation including claims for defective construction, insurance coverage, delay claims and contract disputes. He represents developers, general contractors and design professionals in numerous construction related matters.

Eason is an Atlanta partner who represents clients across the country in complex labor and employment matters. Her practice centers on assisting corporate entities with all aspects of employment-related business operations, including the creation and implementation of policies and procedures; training for staff and supervisors; administrative investigations; mediation; litigation; trial; and appeal.  A particular focus of Eason’s practice is the representation of clients against wage-and-hour claims, discrimination claims, disability claims and retaliation claims.

Garcia, partner in the Miami office, focuses a substantial portion of his practice on product liability litigation. His experience includes representation of manufactures and suppliers of boilers, brakes, clutches, compressors, engines, fans, gaskets, joint compound, packing, pumps, tractors, valves and other industrial equipment. He also has experience in litigation matters involving personal injury, wrongful death, construction defects, medical device manufacturer Stark Law and Anti-Kickback violations, property contamination, and maritime law.

Holder is a partner in the San Francisco office who focuses his practice on a broad range of complex business litigation, including product liability, mass torts, and breach of contract disputes. He has a particular emphasis in complex commercial litigation representing multi-national corporations involved in the sales, marketing, and distribution of pharmaceuticals and medical devices. Holder’s practice also focuses on the defense of legal professionals against malpractice, breach fiduciary duty, and negligence allegations.

Holmquist, partner in the Los Angeles office, focuses his practice on employment litigation and counseling.  He counsels employers on issues including hiring practices, terminations, discipline, reductions in force, workplace investigations, drafting and revising employee handbooks and other written policies, contracts, wage and hour compliance, sexual harassment training, and litigation avoidance practices. His employment litigation practice includes defending employers in a wide range of litigation matters in state and federal courts and administrative venues, including those alleging wrongful termination, sexual harassment, retaliation, wage and hour violations, and discrimination based on protected characteristics including age, race, national origin, sex, gender, and sexual orientation.  His clients span a number of industries including construction, hospitality, retail, medical, and entertainment.

Holvick is a partner in the San Francisco office.  Her experience includes assisting with employment matters involving allegations of age, gender, and race discrimination, sexual harassment, wrongful termination, whistleblower claims, violations of the FMLA, the FEHA, and the ADA, and “wage and hour” violations.  Holvick’s employment law work has involved clients from a wide range of industries, including restaurants, wineries, hotels, health care, manufacturing, professional societies, and insurance.

Kelly, partner in the Denver office, focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation, professional liability and employment matters.  She routinely defends lawyers, physicians, directors, officers and accountants in discipline and malpractice matters. Kelly has represents individuals as well as Fortune 500 companies in complex commercial disputes, ranging from contract disputes, trade secret enforcement actions, disputes over the sale and dissolution of a multi-million dollar business and class actions. She also defends and advises clients on numerous labor and employment issues.

Phillips, partner in the Los Angeles office, primarily defends businesses and individuals in a variety of complex business disputes, with an emphasis on business torts, and all forms of employment disputes, including extensive class action experience. Phillips defends companies and individuals against a wide variety of claims ranging from breach of contract to bad faith, tortious interference, breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, conversion, and defamation.  He also defends companies and individuals against employment claims including harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, and all manner of wage and hour claims.

Polk is a partner in the San Francisco office. He has represented numerous companies in a variety of actions brought under California's Unfair Competition Law, Consumer Legal Remedies Act, Song Beverly Credit Card Act, and the Fair Credit Reporting Act.  Polk has extensive experience representing companies in a broad spectrum of general and complex business disputes, including cases involving claims for breach of contract, data compensation, fraud, and products liability.

Rust, partner in the Denver office, provides employment advice and counsel on a wide range of issues such as accommodating disability, terminations, wage and hour compliance issues and hiring.  She has extensive experience representing employers in matters involving alleged violations of the ADA, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, ADEA, FMLA, FEHA, and the California Labor Code. In addition, Rust has worked with employers to draft employment agreements employee manuals, severance agreements, and other employment related documents.

Saksen is a partner in the Pittsburgh office who has successfully tried over 40 commercial and civil cases to verdict, representing large national financial institutions, Fortune 500 companies, local banks, and natural resource companies. In addition, Saksen successfully arbitrated claims for financial institutions before arbitration panels convened by the NASD, FINRA, and the American Arbitration Association. In addition, Saksen handles employment matters in federal courts and before administrative agencies.

Saxon, partner in the San Diego office, focuses his practice on a wide range of civil litigation matters including the defense of companies and employers in environmental and employment related actions. He has litigated a number of matters to successful resolution in both state and federal courts, and has experience in a variety of heavily regulated practice areas.

Seelman, partner in the Denver office, focuses her practice on resolving complex commercial and business disputes with an emphasis on securities litigation and intellectual property litigation. She represents public and private companies and their officers and directors in regulatory investigations and enforcement actions by the SEC and state regulatory agencies. She represents broker dealers and other financial services companies in FINRA arbitrations and litigation involving sales practice violations, suitability, fraud, and control person liability. She also represents businesses in commercial disputes including patent infringement and trade secret misappropriation, breach of contract, equipment leasing, and mortgage loan purchase agreements.

Simmerman is a partner in the Dallas office who handles a wide variety of litigation matters for clients across the country including complex commercial litigation, professional liability, employment matters and franchising litigation. Simmerman regularly defends corporate entities in consumer class action litigation, including claims arising under the TCPA, FDCPA, and FCRA.  She also represents corporate entities in various commercial disputes ranging from contractual disputes, breach of fiduciary duty claims, trade secret misappropriation and copyright and trademark infringement claims.  Additionally, Simmerman defends and advises clients on numerous labor and employment issues.
